College football rankings: How BCS would rank top 25 after Week 9
The BCS was last used in the 2013 season, but the formula lives on. The website BCSKnowHow.com shares what the rankings would look like if a combination of polls were used to rank the top 25.
For the first time in the 2024 season, the site shared the “BCS” top 25. Here’s a look at the rankings after Week 9:
- Oregon
- Penn State
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Miami
- Texas
- Tennessee
- BYU
- Notre Dame
- Iowa State
- Texas A&M
- Clemson
- Indiana
- Alabama
- Kansas State
- Pittsburgh
- LSU
- Boise State
- Ole Miss
- SMU
- Army
- Washington State
- Illinois
- Colorado
- Mizzou
The AP Top 25, which is part of the formula, also has Oregon ranked No. 1. Georgia is No. 2 in the AP Poll, and Penn State is No. 3.
The BCSKnowHow account on X will become even more popular once the CFP committee begins its top 25 rankings for the 2024 season. While the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll are released on Sundays, the CFP rankings are unveiled on Tuesdays. The first CFP Top 25 of the season is scheduled for Nov. 5, offering football fans an alternative to election night coverage.
It will be fun to see next week how the simulated BCS rankings compare to the CFP committee’s top 25 following Week 10’s games.
We’re back! For the first time this season, let’s take a look at what the “BCS” would have had to say about this chaotic season so far. Oregon a convincing No. 1, leading a dense set of Big Ten and SEC teams in the top 7: pic.twitter.com/taeLO2LS03
