Dan Mullen on Monday posted his top performing head coach and coordinators from Week 8’s college football action. Two coaches from the SEC made the former Mississippi State and Florida head coach’s list this time around.

Mullen’s top head coach was Shane Beamer, who led South Carolina to 30-24 win over Texas A&M in Columbia on Saturday. The Gamecocks, who entered the evening 0-8 all-time against the Aggies, jumped out to a 17-0 lead and eventually claimed a 4th straight win. South Carolina is 5-2 and found itself ranked No. 25 in the polls on Sunday.

Mullen’s top defensive coordinator was Alabama’s Pete Golding. A week after losing to Tennessee 52-49, the Crimson Tide bounced back with a 30-6 win over Mississippi State. The Bulldogs were held to 290 yards of total offense and managed just 62 of those on the ground on 26 carries, eventually scoring a last-second touchdown to avoid the shutout. That was after Golding’s defense was torched for 385 passing yards against the Vols, with Jalin Hyatt catching all 5 of Hendon Hooker’s touchdown passes.
