Dan Mullen, like many of his media peers, updated his team rankings following the weekend. Week 14, and the regular season for that matter, is officially in the books for the 2024 college football season. And it has been nothing short of a wild one.
Oregon is the consensus No. 1 team after finishing out the season with a perfect 12-0 record, with Texas coming in at No. 2 after the Longhorns capped off what has been a great “welcome to the SEC” season after the 17-7 win over the Texas A&M Aggies during Rivalry Week.
He also has Notre Dame at No. 3, a bit higher than some others do. The Fighting Irish got off to a rough start this season with the huge upset by NIU, but have been largely firing on all cylinders ever since. They finished out the regular season with a 11-1 overall record, defeating the USC Trojans, 49-35 on the road Saturday.
SMU and Penn State followed in Mullen’s rankings, with Georgia intriguingly at No. 6. The Bulldogs have become a polarizing team because of their inconsistencies, staving off an upset by Georgia Tech in Sanford Stadium in an 8-overtime game.
Here’s a look at Mullen’s complete updated top 25 teams:
