Daniel Jeremiah's first 2021 NFL Draft big board includes 17 SEC standouts
The 2021 NFL Draft will take place in April. This week, many of the top prospects are in Mobile, Alabama, to work out at the Senior Bowl.
With major changes to the NFL Combine this year, events like the Senior Bowl take on more importance.
On Tuesday, NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his first big board of the top 50 prospects. As you can see below, 17 SEC standouts made the cut, led by 7 Alabama players:
- No. 2 — Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
- No. 3 — Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
- No. 7 — DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
- No. 8 — Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
- No. 15 — Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
- No. 20 — Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
- No. 22 — Najee Harris, RB, Alabama
- No. 25 — Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
- No. 29 — Nick Bolton, LB, Mizzou
- No. 33 — Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
- No. 36 — Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU
- No. 37 — Christian Barmore, DL, Alabama
- No. 41 — Azeez Ojulari, LB, Georgia
- No. 43 — Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss
- No. 44 — Landon Dickerson, OL, Alabama
- No. 47 — Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia
- No. 50 — Dayo Odeyingbo, DL, Vanderbilt
These mock drafts are aptly named. They should be mocked. I wonder how a guy that had 1 average year and 1 excellent year should be picked 5 spots ahead of a guy that had 1 average year, 2 above average years and 1 Heisman Throphy winning excellent year. Add in that player A sat out this year. I’m not an expert but the Jets will probably pick Sewell from Oregon.
This isn’t a mock draft, just an overall ranking of prospects. It’s not about what the player did in college but what they will do in the pros.
A lot of good players on that list. Surprised Nick Bolton isn’t listed higher. I thought he was the best defensive player in the SEC the last two years.
