Danny Kanell goes on pro-UCF Twitter rant following Knights' win over Temple
The UCF Knights needed a second-half comeback to earn a 52-40 victory over Temple on Thursday night, but at the end of the game, they remained undefeated, improving to 8-0.
However, not everyone was impressed with the win. In fact, some said that it showed UCF’s offense is elite, but the defense can’t hang with anyone.
That prompted analyst Danny Kanell to go on a pro-UCF rant, comparing the Knights to last year’s offense-heavy Oklahoma squad:
Congrats to UCF for extending streak!
People saying “no way is this a playoff team giving up 40 points to Temple” are dumb.
Just remind them last year NOBODY had a problem with Oklahoma getting in after giving up 41 to Baylor who went 1-11 last year#doublestandard #justwin

I don’t think UCF deserves a spot in a 4 team playoff. But it’s not their fault. Instead of trolling them why aren’t more analysts bringing up the need to change the playoff to actually give them a chance???

And even worse the head of the playoff Bill Hancock teases them by saying “you never know – maybe they have a shot at getting in” when there is ZERO chance they do.

It does seem like things are trending toward an eight-team playoff, with five spots for Power 5 conference champs, one Group of 5 team and two wildcards. However, that’s not the current system.
How will the Knights fare in the next CFP rankings? We’ll have to wait to see how the rest of the Week 10 action plays out.
