Deion Sanders addresses Jay Norvell’s comments, teases postgame response
Deion Sanders isn’t one to let perceived slights go quietly.
Sanders and Colorado are 2-0 with a game against Colorado State set for Saturday. ESPN’s “College GameDay”, along with FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff”, is in Boulder, while ESPN’s “First Take” and “The Pat McAfee Show” set up shop in town on Friday leading up to the contest.
One of the main talking points surrounding this one was comments made by Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell during the week regarding Sanders’ usual attire.
“When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and glasses off,” Norvell said. “That’s what my mother taught me.”
For someone like Sanders, that’s certainly bulletin board material, and he hasn’t hidden the fact that he’s using it as fuel to motivate his Buffaloes team.
“We are so right now, you got to find something wrong,” Sanders said on GameDay. “But let me tell you something, my mama may be a part of the pregame speech today…When we meet at the conclusion of the game, keep the cameras rolling.”
As another outspoken former NFL star once said, get your popcorn ready.
I have no idea what Norvell was thinking with those comments. Throwing insults isn’t going to help you win. Against Colorado, it’s just giving your opponent ammunition as they love to play the disrespect card. Dumb. I’m guessing Colorado wins by three scores.
