The end of March Madness will also spell the end for college sports contests on DraftKings and FanDuel.

The two leading daily fantasy sports operators will suspend contests on college sports indefinitely in all states, officials of the company told ESPN on Thursday.

Months of discussions involving the two sites, the NCAA and many state legislatures led to the voluntary decision by DraftKings and FanDuel to put a hold on college sports contests after this week, which will see the culmination of the college basketball season when the national championship is played on Monday.

Daily fantasy sports industries continue to fight legal battles in several states, more than 30 of which have introduced fantasy sports legislation this year. However, only five are considering bills that would prevent college sports contests.

The NCAA has taken a firm stance on daily fantasy, saying that it considers it a form of sports wagering. Meanwhile, supporters of daily fantasy say it’s a game of skill.
