ESPN analysts Joey Galloway and Jesse Palmer unveiled their latest top five picks on the weekly episode of “College Football Final.”
Their picks have remained largely similar from previous weeks. However, this week, Palmer elevated Notre Dame above Ohio State, and he kept Texas A&M in the top five as his second SEC team behind No. 1 Alabama. Palmer said Notre Dame could be the one team in his top four to play its way out of the College Football Playoff. Interestingly, Galloway has said Florida could be a team outside of his top five that could make the College Football Playoff.
“If they win those, get to the SEC Championship Game, if they knock off Alabama, which the way they’re playing is very possible, they absolutely get into the top four,” Galloway said.
Added Palmer, “The way their offense is playing, I think maybe they could beat Bama and then the committee would put two SEC teams in.”
“This is not going to be an easy decision down the road for the committee, a lot of what-ifs still to come,” Palmer said. “It could help if more of these teams could actually play on a weekend.”
Some games of note this weekend are Alabama against Kentucky, Indiana against Ohio State, Clemson against Florida State, Texas A&M plays Ole Miss, and Florida meets Vanderbilt. Notre Dame has a bye week.
