Alabama and Clemson have dominated the College Football Player era. That postseason rivalry may extend to the Heisman Trophy in 2020.

After the latest college football Saturday, Week 5 of the SEC season, ESPN.com’s college football writers updated the site’s Heisman Watch. The Tide and Tigers have two candidates apiece in the latest top 6.

Clemson teammates Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne bookend the list at Nos. 1 and 6. UA teammates Mac Jones and Najee Harris check in at Nos. 2 and 5. With Big Ten football back, Ohio State QB is No. 3. BYU QB Zach Wilson checks in at No. 4.

  1. Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence (72 points)
  2. Alabama QB Mac Jones (51 points)
  3. Ohio State QB Justin Fields  (45 points)
  4. BYU QB Zach Wilson (20 points)
  5. Alabama RB Najee Harris (17 points)
  6. Clemson RB Travis Etienne (12 points)

Here’s how the Heisman Watch rankings are calculated:

To get the final rankings, we use the following methodology: 15 voters, five votes each. Points system: five points for first-place votes, four points for second-place votes, three points for third-place votes, two points for fourth-place votes and one point for fifth-place votes.

The article notes that four other players also received votes: Florida QB Kyle Trask (3 points), Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz (2 points), Alabama WR DeVonta Smith (2 points) and UCF QB Dillon Gabriel (1 point).
