Finding a schedule tougher than LSU’s this season is nearly impossible, and ESPN managed to find just two teams: UCLA and Florida State.

The Tigers checked in at No. 3 in the country on ESPN’s Football Power Index with a projected win-loss of 6.1-5.9. Alabama has the next-toughest SEC schedule, ranked at No. 28, followed immediately in order by Texas A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State. Overall, eight SEC teams fall in the top 40, including Missouri (37), Kentucky (39) and Vanderbilt (40).

The next tier of teams are Ole Miss (43), South Carolina (44), Georgia (50), Florida (54) and Arkansas (59). Tennessee has the weakest SEC schedule, according to the FPI, at No. 60 in the nation.

The FPI projects Alabama and Georgia as the only teams to reach 10 wins. Auburn is third with a projected nine wins.

LSU opens against Miami in Arlington, Texas, and plays the usual tough SEC West slate, including games at Auburn, at Arkansas and at Texas A&M, along with the annual matchup with Florida, this year in Gainesville. The Tigers do face Alabama coming off a bye week, but the Crimson Tide will be in the same position. LSU will play Mississippi State on homecoming, but the Bulldogs are also coming off an open week.
