Georgia and Auburn are set to meet for the 125th time as both teams renew the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. And lately, it’s been going the Bulldogs’ way, as they’ve won the last 3 meetings and 12 of the last 15 dating back to 2006, including 2017’s SEC Championship Game. Overall, they lead the series 60-56-8.

It will be a top 10 matchup, as Georgia is No. 4 and Auburn is No. 7. So who gets the edge in this one?

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, it may not be a runaway. The Bulldogs are being given a 57.4% chance to come away with the victory on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.

Both teams had their respective season openers go a little bit closer than expected. The Tigers led Kentucky by just 15-13 through 3 quarters, but mistakes by the Wildcats fueled a 14-point 4th quarter for Auburn as it won 29-13. Meanwhile, Georgia trailed 7-5 at halftime at Arkansas, but scored 22 points in the 3rd to pull away for a 37-10 win in Fayetteville.

Saturday’s kickoff between the Bulldogs and Tigers in Athens is set for 7:30pm on ESPN.
