The Egg Bowl is here to get Rivalry Week started in the SEC with a bang. There are rivalry games, and then there’s the Egg Bowl.

Ole Miss enters Thursday’s game ranked No. 12 with a 9-2 record. The Rebels have the chance to get to 10 wins for the second time in Lane Kiffin’s tenure.

Mississippi State is 5-6 having already dismissed first-year head coach Zach Arnett. Greg Knox is 3-1 all-time as an interim head coach for Mississippi State and Florida. An Egg Bowl upset to guarantee a postseason bid would be Knox’s biggest win yet as a head coach.

ESPN’s SP+, designed by Bill Connelly, is a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency that is intended to be predictive and forward-facing. Earlier in the week, Connelly shared the SP+ score projections for every game.

SP+ has Ole Miss winning the Egg Bowl 34-21 with a 78% win probability. According to ESPN Bet, the opening line of Ole Miss -13.5 has tightened to Ole Miss -10. The over/under is currently set at 54.5.

Kickoff from Starkville is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with the game airing on ESPN.
