The saying usually goes “if you can’t beat them, join them.” However, in the case of transferring Evansville forward DeAndre Williams, perhaps the saying should be “even if you do beat them, join them.”

Williams has reportedly narrowed his list of transfer options down to 4 teams, and 2 of them — Kentucky and Arkansas — are in the SEC. You might recall that Evansville went into Rupp Arena his past season and shocked the Wildcats.

Per Rivals.com, Williams’ coach named the 4 schools he’s considering as he explores transfer options:

Where that is remains up for debate but his coach, Kenneth Roy, told Rivals.com that he will choose between Arkansas, Baylor, Kentucky and Memphis.

Williams has also entered his name in the 2020 NBA Draft pool, but will likely not stay in the draft.

He appeared in 18 games for the Aces in 2019-20, starting 15 of them. He averaged 15.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1 block per contest.
