On Saturday morning, ESPN’s College GameDay was in Brookings, South Dakota, for the North Dakota State-South Dakota State rivalry game.
Former NFL punter Pat McAfee, now an ESPN broadcaster, was the celebrity guest picker, which seemed like an interesting choice since he went to West Virginia. The connection? McAfee served as former SDSU kicker Adam Vinatieri’s holder for about 10 years while both were with the Indianapolis Colts.
Vinatieri is still with the Colts, so he couldn’t make it to Brookings. He sent McAfee in his place. And fans absolutely loved it.
As you can see below, many on Twitter would like to see McAfee on GameDay more:

Pat McAfee is the best football analyst to come into the business since Tony Romo started doing NFL games for Fox. Guys supremely entertaining and extremely knowledgeable.

— Katie Kemmerer (@katie_kemmerer) October 26, 2019
@CollegeGameDay if you don’t lock @PatMcAfeeShow up and make sure he’s a permanent part of your show you are clearly doing it wrong. For the first time in a long time the show was actually fun this morning.

I don’t often tweet about non-medical things, but when I do it’s to say to the world that punter @PatMcAfeeShow was literally the greatest @CollegeGameDay guest picker ever.
And now from Boston, let’s go @OhioState#GameDay #GoBucks
