On Tuesday night, Akron faltered in its debut midweek MACtion, falling to Ball State 31-25.
That dropped the Zips to 2-7 on the season, and apparently, it was enough for school administrators to want to make a change.
Per CFB insider Bruce Feldman, coach Tom Arth is being let go after the loss, which dropped him to 3-24 in his 3 seasons at Akron:
SOURCE: Tom Arth is out as head coach at Akron. He was 3-24 in three seasons. Akron is 2-7 this year.

Arth went 0-12 in his first season in 2020, then followed it up with a 1-5 mark in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Starting 2-7 this year apparently was the final straw.
Where the Zips turn next remains to be seen, but Arth’s time with the program has come to an end, it seems.
