Gene Chizik has come under fire from North Carolina fans after the Tar Heels’ fourth-quarter collapse vs. Georgia Tech on Saturday night.

The ex-Auburn coach and SEC Network analyst is in his second year as Carolina’s defensive coordinator. The Tar Heels showed some signs of improvement on that end of the field earlier this season, but any hope of progress has vanished after another defensive collapse.

Carolina blew a double-digit lead and fell to the Yellow Jackets 46-42 in Atlanta on Saturday night. Georgia Tech picked up yards at will on the ground, finishing with 246 rushing yards in the fourth quarter alone.

For the game, Georgia Tech totaled 635 yards and averaged 8.1 yards per play. Haynes King threw for 4 touchdown passes as the Yellow Jackets defeated Carolina for the third consecutive year.

Coupled with Carolina’s stunning loss to Virginia last week, the Tar Heels are now staring down the reality of another disappointing season. With two ACC losses already in the books, UNC is now tied for fourth place in the ACC after being tied for first just eight days ago. Louisville and Virginia Tech are currently ahead of UNC with just one conference loss.

Chizik was the subject of serious criticism from fans on Saturday night after the game, with many of them calling for the embattled DC to lose his job.

Here’s some of that reaction:
