Former Alabama linebacker Adrian Hubbard ripped former position coach Lance Thompson in a Twitter post, saying Thompson sabotaged his NFL career, among other things.

Some of the accusations in Hubbard’s tweet, which has its share of typographical errors:

  • “He didn’t teach in the classroom, only cursing and getting off topic.”
  • After one practice, Thompson told Hubbard he was “a piece of [expletive],” “sorry as hell,” and that Thompson “would make sure I wouldn’t make it.”
  • “After the season, I went to speak with Saban about Coach Thompson, and he said, ‘Hub, just trust the process.’ I replied, ‘OK Coach.'”
  • “Start of my Redshirt (jr) year was when I noticed Coach Thompson had more control over our playing time. I played 30 percent less snaps that year.”
  • In the 2013 game against Auburn, Thompson took Hubbard out for a fourth-and-1 play late in the fourth quarter. On the play, Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Sammie Coates that tied the score at 28-28 (the Tigers would win the game 34-28). Hubbard claims he would have read the play and stopped Coates.
  • After the 2013 season, Thompson told Hubbard, “You better stay or you wont [sic] make in the NFL. Well he prolly [sic] has some buddies in the League and sure enough they believed him and started spreading rumors.”

Hubbard also claimed that Alabama fired Thompson for “cheating problems.”

Hubbard played three years at Alabama (2011-13), recording 83 tackles and 10 sacks, before entering the 2014 NFL Draft. He was not drafted, but was signed by the Green Bay Packers. He is currently a free agent.

Thompson, who was a Crimson Tide assistant from 1999-2000, 2007-08 and 2012-14, left Alabama after last season, and is now the linebackers coach at Auburn.
