Former Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg has had a roller-coaster ride of a professional football career since the New York Jets took him in Round 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft.
He’s spent time with the Jets, the Oakland Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cincinnati Bengals and, from the now-defunct AAF, the Memphis Express.
Now, he’s apparently going to give a completely new sport a try, as he told reporter John Clark he wants to give baseball a shot:
Christian Hackenberg is now trying to become a pitcher

“As simple as I could put it, I just want to compete, man,” Hackenberg said. “I kind of have had my trials and tribulations with the NFL and had success and had that roller-coaster ride. And at the end of the day, I’m sitting here at 25. And, like, for me, like I said, I feel like I got a lot left in the tank.”
Can Hackenberg find success as a pitcher? We’ll see if he ends up in the minor leagues when play resumes.
