AL.com has reported that 4-star inside linebacker Will Ignont had been “silently” committed to Alabama since early June, but recently re-opened his recruitment and now includes five different programs of interest in his updated top five.

Ignont (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) is now “really liking” Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and UCLA, in no particular order.

“While they’ve got three linebacker commits in this class, LSU doesn’t have any, certain schools that I like don’t have any like UCLA, why not open up to them?” Ignont said. “I don’t want to be just one-dimensional and limit myself to playing in the state when I can go out of the state and have fun.

“(I decided) probably before the (Rivals) 5-star challenge (June 10) because I had a feeling another linebacker would commit.”

Ignont ranks as the No. 6 player at his position for the class of 2017, serving as the No. 10 overall prospect hailing from the state of Alabama. He holds 23 offers in total after recording 91 tackles (6.0 for loss), .5 sacks, four hurries and forced fumble as a two-way player during his junior season in 2015.

Though he doesn’t list a clear favorite, Ignont seems to have the most interest in Auburn and LSU. The former is where he “feels at home,” and the latter boasts a Dave Aranda-led defense that certainly looks attractive for big-time recruits.

“I really love Auburn,” Ignont said. “From the coaching staff to the players, the campus itself, I love being there. It feels at home for me. Auburn will be in it until the end for sure.

“If you look at his [coach Aranda] track record, everywhere he’s been he’s had a top five defense nationally,” Ignont said. “That’s somebody I want to play under and somebody I could get national recognition from. He does well with his linebackers and he did well with Wisconsin. They have great linebackers like Kendall Beckwith and I can’t wait to watch them play this season.”
