HOOVER, Ala. — With Verne Lundquist deciding to walk away, Gary Danielson needed a new partner in the booth at CBS Sports.

Now paired with Brad Nessler, Danielson is ready to put the emotions of this past year’s retirement tour alongside Lundquist in the rearview mirror and get back to the business of calling the most high-profile games in the SEC.

Danielson was kind enough to spend some time with us this week at the Wynfrey Hotel to talk about the inner workings of a television broadcast and what it’s like to have legitimate chemistry with a play-by-play man. Additionally, he discusses the evolution of offensive football in the 21st century. Have we made the quarterback position too important in today’s game?
