Shawn Elliott led the Georgia State Panthers to the biggest win in GSU’s history on Saturday as his team defeated Tennessee 38-30 in Neyland Stadium.

For Elliott, it wasn’t just about beating the Vols. He was proud to have defeated an SEC program and flipped the conference catchphrase in a witty postgame comment.

“This is the SEC. they say it just means more. It just meant more to us today,” Elliott said after the game.

Elliott knows all about SEC football. The Camden, South Carolina native was a South Carolina Gamecocks assistant from 2010-16. Elliott was the program’s interim head coach following Steve Spurrier’s midseason departure in 2015.

After winning on Rocky Top, he’s certainly earned the right to take that shot at the SEC.
