A little less than a year ago, the SEC put a rule in place that prevents student-athletes who have been disciplined for “serious misconduct” by a college or athletic department from transferring to an SEC school.

However, Sankey told a group of media at the annual APSE region meeting on UAB’s campus on Monday that the conference doesn’t anticipate expanding the rule to include incoming high school prospects, according to oanow.com’s Tom Green.

The rule, which was approved during last year’s spring meetings, defines “serious misconduct” as sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence.

At the moment, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey has said the league is looking into “having some updated language” when it comes to combining the league’s transfer rules and graduate transfer rules.

Sankey also discussed the differences in transfer rules among collegiate sports as some offer one-time exception transfers and others don’t. Sankey pointed out that he learned that transferring seems to affect graduation success, so the impact of transfers has to be assessed.
