Haters get in line: SEC having 3 of top 4 in new AP Poll brings tribal response on Twitter
LSU’s big win at Texas elevated the Tigers to No. 4 in this week’s AP poll, clearly the most notable move of the week.
That move meant the SEC now has 3 of the top 4 in the current version of the AP poll, meaning Alabama, Georgia and LSU after Clemson. That re-ignited the SEC pride, or SEC hate, depending on fans’ allegiance as Oklahoma, which beat South Dakota 70-14, was jumped in the poll.
Much of the discussion after Week 1 was the SEC teams in the middle of the pack, or at the bottom, that lost. But now the SEC also has 5 of the top 9.
But then there are Kentucky fans, who counted two votes for the Wildcats, which would put them at No. 37. That’s some pride there.
Here’s a collection of reaction on Twitter about the latest AP poll:
LSU wins by 7 and gives up 38 points and jumps a team that won 70-14? Dear Lord, the #SEC bias is strong in the AP Poll.

What’s with the SEC this week? Only 3 of the top 4 and 5 of top 9. Seems like it can do better. https://t.co/9VYmQwyJR1

They not back. Neither is LSU. People gonna pump up this win, but Texas was overrated in the AP poll

LSU’s offense hasn’t looked like that in years, but then again they are playing against the big 12.

LSU never left bud. Go check strength or schedule stats for the last ten years. When you play ranked teams 8 weeks a season you’re gonna lose some games.

Kentucky received 2 votes in the AP Poll. That would put them at No. 37.
