Former Arkansas and Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt thinks there’s a good chance an SEC player will win the Heisman Trophy.

On Tuesday night, Nutt revealed his top three Heisman contenders on CBS Sports, and two of the three were from the SEC.

South Carolina’s do-it-all all-purpose weapon Deebo Samuel checked in at No. 3, while Georgia’s talented back D’Andre Swift came in at No. 2. Stanford running back Bryce Love is Nutt’s top Heisman candidate.

The notable name missing? Well, it’s Tua Tagovailoa, who is currently leading the Heisman Trophy odds despite not having started a single game in college football.

As we’ve come to realize, the Heisman is more of a popularity contest that gets awarded to the best player on the best team. So, South Carolina and Georgia will both need to be in contention for the SEC Championship Game late in the season for both players to have a shot.
