Jim Phillips, ACC commissioner, takes veiled shot at SEC and Big Ten amid conference realignment
Jim Phillips, the ACC commissioner, spoke at his conference’s Media Days and spoke about conference realignment and expansion, and in the process took a veiled shot at the SEC and Big Ten.
Phillips discussed the changing dynamics, and made reference to recent additions to the SEC and Big Ten, and seemed to indicate that those moves are not necessarily healthy for the overall college sports landscape. He indicated that the ACC is trying to close the gap.
“I will continue to advocate for college athletics to be a healthy neighborhood, not 2-3 gated communities,” he said.
