Former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel came to Todd Gurley’s defense Friday in reference to the running back’s recent suspension at the University of Georgia while he’s being investigated for impermissible benefits involving autographs.

Manziel was suspended for the first half of last season’s opener against Rice for a similar transgression after the Heisman winner denied the allegations that he ever took money for signing autographs.
The NCAA could not find any evidence that Manziel accepted money.
Manziel on Gurley: "He's built an image for himself. He's built somewhat of a brand. I feel he should be able to capitalize off it."

The AJC reported Friday that Gurley could miss the rest of the season.
