Under Armour All-American DB Kaiir Elam announces commitment to Florida over Georgia
Kaiir Elam’s decision has been made — he is headed to Florida.
Elam’s other finalists were Georgia, Colorado and Miami.
The Under Armour All-American announced his decision during ESPN’s coverage of National Signing Day, which was broadcast nationally on ESPN 2. If you were unaware, the Benjamin School product is the nephew of former Florida great, Matt Elam. Elam starred in Gainesville during the Urban Meyer era.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Elam is rated as a top 50 overall prospect and the nation’s No. 6 cornerback prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings for the 2019 recruiting cycle. He was one of the top performers at the latest Under Armour All-American game from Orlando.
Elam’s recruitment really began to heat up when Georgia stole away Florida’s defensive backs coach, Charlton Warren. Warren had been recruiting Elam to Gainesville and in an interesting bit of timing, left Florida for Georgia while Elam was on his official visit to Athens.
To get an idea of why Elam is so coveted by both Florida and Georgia, check out his latest highlight reel featuring plays he made during his high school career at the Benjamin School:
Hell, we can’t pay them all.
Why the picture of him in Auburn Gear?
Darn.
Enjoy Warren though. If it were me, I’d demand some money back. $600k for a mediocre DB coach? He was hired for 1 reason and failed. All that was accomplished was opening a spot for a better coach at UF. Hahahahahahaha
