The guest picker segment is a staple of ESPN’s “College GameDay.” The picker is typically a celebrity connected to the host site. Alumni athletes and celebrity superfans are the most common guest pickers. One fan, however, suggested that the World Wide Leader change things up next season.

“Kirk, it would be cool if we do get to have CFB this fall would be for College Gameday have a nurse/doctor to be the guest picker in each city you go to. It would be a cool honor. Your thoughts?” a fan tweeted to Herbstreit.

Herbstreit shared his approval via quote-tweet.

“Love it!!! Let’s do it!” Herbie responded.

Celebrating doctors and nurses after the coronavirus pandemic would certainly go over well with fans. And there would be a large pool of school hospital employees, alumni and local diehard fans to pick from. The bigger question, though, is when college football will return and if “GameDay” will be able to host on campus with a large crowd. Herbstreit is obviously quite familiar with this matter, after getting the attention of the college and pro football communities when he shared that he didn’t see a season happening in 2020. It’s safe to say the below tweet will be better received than his comment.
