Kirk Herbstreit joined the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss what he thinks about the Crimson Tide and Gators after a thrilling conference game.

While Herbstreit mentioned how great the game was to watch, he did have some concerns for Alabama after how they played.

“There’s some concerns with Alabama,” Herbstreit said, per 247Sports. “After the first couple weeks, we all wanted to say, ‘Put them in the championship. It’s Nick Saban. It’s Alabama. It doesn’t matter who is on the roster. They’re in.’ But going to Florida, they’ve moved offensive linemen around. You’ve got one returning starter at the same position he played.”

Florida was able to move the ball pretty well against Alabama. Emory Jones had 195 yards passing. As a whole, the team rushed for 245 yards when it was all said and done.

“Florida is a lot better than I thought,” Herbstreit said. “Man, Dan Mullen can coach. Based off the performances that we saw from Emory Jones in the first two weeks, I had serious doubts about if they had enough balance to move the ball against Alabama. Dan Mullen proves once again that whether it’s a throwing quarterback like Kyle Trask or more of a dual-threat quarterback like what he had in Nick Fitzgerald in Mississippi State, he figures out ways to move the ball. And he deserves a lot of credit.”

Herbstreit noted that he’s no longer as certain about Georgia winning the SEC East after Florida’s performance against Alabama.

“I’m fired up to see how the SEC plays out this year,” Herbstreit said.
