It’s that time of year, NFL teams are trimming their camp rosters to get to 53 for the opening-week active roster. On Friday, the Los Angeles Rams announced they waived 17 players.
Six former SEC players were among the 17 players trimmed from the team roster:
- LB Daniel Bituli (Tennessee)
- TE Kendall Blanton (Missouri)
- RB John Kelly (Tennessee)
- K Austin MacGinnis (Kentucky)
- DB Tyrique McGhee (Georgia)
- LB Derrick Moncrief (Auburn)
NFL teams need to have the roster down to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. With that deadline, more SEC alums will be getting bad news over the next couple of days.
Players without an established roster spot faced a more difficult path to making the 53-man roster this offseason due to the coronavirus pandemic and elimination of preseason games.
