LSU and Texas A&M are scheduled to host Purdue edge rusher Will Heldt on recruiting visits, according to a report.
That news was shared by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Tuesday morning. Heldt is one of the top defensive linemen in the portal so far this cycle, as he recorded 56 tackles, 5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss at PUrdue this season.
Heldt will have numerous options out of the portal this offseason as he seeks a new program. Heldt was honorable mention All-Big Ten for his efforts in 2024.
Heldt spent 2 seasons at Purdue and was a consistent contributor in both campaigns, meaning he will have 2 years of eligibility remaining at his next destination. Heldt is a native of Carmel, Indiana. He was a 3-star prospect back in the class of 2023, but has quickly developed into a havoc-creating defender at the top levels of college football. He was one of 13 players in the Big Ten this season to record at least 10 tackles for loss.
Texas A&M would certainly be an interesting landing spot for Heldt. The Aggies also landed the top Purdue defender in last year’s portal class in Nic Scourton. In 2024, Scourton made a big impact in College Station as he compiled 14 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.
LSU would also be an intriguing option for Heldt. The Tigers will be looking to have a better season in 2025 after going just 8-4 this fall.
