The 2023 Manning Award has revealed its list of 10 finalists, including a trio of QBs from the SEC.

The QBs in question are LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Georgia’s Carson Beck. Washington’s Michael Penix, Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel, Florida State’s Jordan Travis, Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, UNC’s Drake Maye, USC’s Caleb Williams and Oregon’s Bo Nix are also finalists for the award.

The Manning Award differs from other QB awards because it is given after the College Football Playoff rather than before. The winner of the honor, which is awarded by the Sugar Bowl, will be announced following the crowning of the 2023 national champion.

And since this award is given after the CFP, Milroe and Beck still have plenty of time to prove themselves. Both are still alive for the CFP, but neither is likely to make the 4-team field without first winning the SEC.

But Daniels still has an argument here. The LSU QB hasn’t quite played for the best team, but he has led the best offense in the country and thrown for 3,812 yards with 40 touchdown and 4 interceptions. On top of that, Daniels has rushed for 1,138 yards with 10 touchdowns – 2nd in the SEC in rushing yards behind only Mizzou’s Cody Schrader.

The SEC Championship game is set for 4 p.m. ET this Saturday.
