Miami is looking for a new football coach. But it doesn’t appear that it will be former Hurricanes quarterback Mark Richt.

Georgia’s head coach was asked about the opening at Miami during his Tuesday press conference, and he didn’t express much interest in it.

“I don’t think much of it, really,” Richt said. “I love my alma mater, The U. No doubt about it. But there’s been nobody calling or writing or texting or anything like that. I’m sure they’ll find a great coach.”

Richt played at Miami from 1979-82, backing up future Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, but has not been involved with the program since graduating. He was an assistant coach at Florida State from 1985-2000, except for a one-year stint as East Carolina’s offensive coordinator in 1989. He has been Georgia’s head coach since 2001, compiling a 140-50 record and leading the Bulldogs to two SEC championships.

Miami fired coach Al Golden on Sunday, one day after the Hurricanes suffered a 58-0 loss to Clemson.
