Mark Richt may not be on the hot seat yet, but a rough start to the 2019 season with a loss to Florida might do it.

Richt’s Hurricanes were hammered 35-3 in the Pinstripe Bowl against Wisconsin, and people are already wondering about Richt in 2019.

The Hurricanes have gone backward from an impressive 2017 campaign to a 7-6 meltdown, which currently includes the nation’s No. 37 ranked recruiting class.

Following the loss to the Badgers, Miami AD Blake James released a statement about Richt.

“Our football team’s performance tonight — and at other times this season — is simply unacceptable to all of us who love The U,” Blake wrote on social media. “I am committed to getting UM Football back to national prominence and that process is underway. We will compete for ACC and national championships and I know that Coach Richt is alongside me in that commitment to excellence.”

The statement was released to calm the Hurricanes’ fan base down, but we’re not sure it will have that effect.
