Mark Richt’s Miami Hurricanes are a hot mess.

The Canes’ recruiting class fell apart following DC Manny Diaz’s hiring at Temple. The Canes’ class currently sits at No. 37 in the nation, which is good for fifth in the ACC behind NC State and Virginia Tech.

To follow that up, Richt and the Canes got smoked in the Pinstripe Bowl by Wisconsin 35-3 Thursday night. Starting QB Malik Rosier threw three INTs before getting pulled for backup N’Kosi Perry. Perry didn’t fare much better, as the Canes offense turned it over five total times compared to just six completions.

So, where do Miami and Richt go from here?

On the heels of a 7-6 season, recruiting has to pick up immediately in 2020, and to put it plainly: Richt has to win. Otherwise, 2019 could be Richt’s last year as the head coach of the Hurricanes. Things get started immediately, too, against Florida in the Camping World Kickoff Game. Should the Canes get beat by the Gators, the heat will really start to turn up on Richt.

In three seasons at Miami, Richt is 26-13 overall.
