Media reacts to College Football Playoff top 6
The College Football Playoff selection committee unveiled its second Top 25 of the 2020 season. As far as the race for the CFP, the top 6 remained unchanged with a final four field of Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson and Ohio State with Texas A&M and Florida on the outside looking in at Nos. 5 and 6.
At just 4-0 and COVID-uncertainty surrounding future games, Ryan Day’s Buckeyes stick out like a sore thumb to many media members.
Here’s how they reacted to the latest rankings:
Honestly, College Football Playoff committee … what, exactly, has Ohio State done to be 4 and what has Wisconsin done to be 16?

Georgia No. 8? Ohio State still top 4. #CFBPlayoff rankings are silly.

Texas A&M will not play a ranked team the rest of the season.
Ohio State is on track to play at least one.
The key team to the CFP is Florida in Atlanta.

Looks like @CFBPlayoff committee is rewarding one team for winning a top 10 game (because Ohio State has done nothing else), and penalizing another (Indiana) for losing it.
Sounds reasonable. https://t.co/xallXth5m9

The biggest drama was whether Ohio State would hold at No. 4 after a cancelled game. That's good news for the Buckeyes, who are battling COVID and perception as much as any on-field foe.

I kinda think it's ridiculous that Ohio State is No. 4 right now.
— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) December 2, 2020
Don't get into a twist or comfortable about anything in the top 6. Remember, this is just the College Football Playoff committee's thought for right now.
It's all about who wins the Power Five conference championships.
— Pete Fiutak (@PeteFiutak) December 2, 2020
If Ohio State misses another game and doesn't play in the B1G championship, this right here has to be the worst possible scenario for the CFP Selection Committee.
They'd be wheeling in the bourbon for committee members. https://t.co/XjhwD55w6S

š @KirkHerbstreit on @NDFootball: "Not only have they secured a spot in Charlotte (for @theACC Championship Game) … maybe they've secured a spot in the #CFBPlayoff because even if they lose to Clemson, there's a really good chance they're going to stay in the top 4." https://t.co/qpUrHW6W9w

"I think Alabama could be 1A and Notre Dame could be 1B"

Galloway advocating for a 2-loss Florida team to leapfrog an undefeated Ohio State and a 1-loss A&M team they lost to in a head-to-head. The hottest of hot takes.

“I think Alabama could be 1A and Notre Dame could be 1B”
Uh, no…Bama would have scrubbed an 0-4 Louisville team instead of beating them by a 12-7 score.
Everybody wants ND to be good, and everybody wants Bama’s reign of terror to be over. Bama is crushing souls right now. They’ve won every game by at least 15 points. ND struggled against Louisville.
The only way ND takes over at #1 will be if they beat Clemson, and A&M is the #4 team. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the committee make some moves to try to prevent a rematch in the semifinals. Even then, if Bama ruins Florida, it’s going to be a hard sell.
Itās a very ārose lensesā case you are making against ND. I canāt stand them and the good ole boy legacy that has kept them in national conversation. I think they might actually and finally be good this year. I think Alabama is in a league of its own and everyone else is on the other side of the gap.
However, the āthey struggled against Louisvilleā early in the season can be said with A&M against vandy and miss state. Against (youāll hate this) Florida and A&M, or BAMA and ole miss. But the one thing we are all sure of is all those teams are better.. and in the back of our heads… no one looks more invincible than bama
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I watched that A&M Bama game. I know there’s still a wiiide gap. Hopefully it’s closing, but I’ll wait to see what happens after this insane year to take a stance on that.
My point was that, to me, Bama is the clear #1 regardless of what polls or the committee say. However, the only reason I can think that ND would weasel their way into the top spot is if the committee tries to prevent a rematch but also wants to include 2 SEC teams.
Also, the fact that a 15 point win over Ole Miss is considered a “struggle win” highlights my point of the level Bama has risen to. Pure murder ball.
What is Bama has a “massive COVID outbreak” starting on the 18th and can’t play in the SECCG.
Let the Gators and Aggies play for the right to get into the CFP.
Then is could be two SEC, Bama and SECCG winner, and two ACC (assuming Clemson beats ND close).
LOL
If and likely when we lose to bama can we play the aggies in a bowl? Iāve got some benjis for that betting line
Who is Zach Taylor and why is this site quoting the idiot that doesnāt even know how many losses UF has.
I think hia assumption was after the SECCG.
But the rankings are just for this week. No assumptions going forward.
