Media reacts to high-scoring first half of Florida-Arkansas game
If you like big plays, the Florida-Arkansas game is for you.
The Razorbacks and No. 6 Gators have had no trouble finding the end zone in the first 30 minutes in Gainesville. Kyle Trask entered the game with a streak of five-straight games with 4 touchdown passes, an SEC record. He has already extended that to six games with 5 more in the first half.
Trask’s former teammate Feleipe Franks is back in The Swamp. Franks throw a dime on a deep ball for Arkansas’ first touchdown. The Hogs got their second score on an 83-yard run by Terion Smith, the longest touchdown run by a Razorback in SEC play since 2011.
Here’s a small sample of how the media is reacting to all the fireworks in the “Feleipe Franks Bowl”, which Trask has taken over as Florida leads 35-14:
Of all the stupid booings of former players this might have taken the No. 1 spot https://t.co/gsjnT3RWNC

Wayyyy too many mistakes on that possession. Can’t do that against a top 10 team on the road. Gotta get another stop here. Hogs can’t play from behind too long.

Florida defense carrying some momentum over from the 2nd half last week. Grantham getting his guys to make some plays.

Awful blown coverage by Arkansas.

Maybe the Arkansas DBs were just following CDC guidelines and were socially distancing from Grimes. https://t.co/Hy5klLc354

Nay'Quan Wright's estimated max squat based on this game alone: 8,000 pounds

Kyle Trask is a Heisman contender. Yet Mullen still pulls him off at times for Emory Jones. Agree or disagree with the Jones plays?

As big a fan of Rakeem Boyd as you'll find, but he's a north-south runner yet Hogs constantly dial up plays for him going east-west … too much speed on SEC defenses, & Boyd's not a make-the-1st-defender-miss runner … get him downhill … https://t.co/ILR5PMIDFD

Blatantly missed hold on that flea flicker. Goodness.
— John Nabors (@JohnNaborsShow) November 15, 2020
Shawn Davis seemed to have some strong words for Feleipe Franks after he (smartly) gave himself up on a run instead of taking a hit. Ref even stepped in to quiet Davis. Love it

Wholly impressive composure all around here. https://t.co/VMDchCUY1G

Kyle Trask might not have Feleipe Franks' gun for an arm, but he can sling it. Basically was flat-footed and tossed it 40+ and then fired it to Justin Shorter in tight coverage for a TD. Quite a sequence for Trask.
— Edgar Thompson (@osgators) November 15, 2020
Shorter looked a lot like Kyle Pitts the way he went up and got that pass for a 21-yard TD.

If you run onto the field by accident to celebrate a teammate doing something that cool, it shouldn’t be a penalty.
I mean, it is. But it shouldn’t be.
— Alligator Army (@AlligatorArmy) November 15, 2020
#Gators offense has a drive of 1:11 and another of 7:24. Can hit a defense with a Tyson uppercut or wear it down with an Ali jab. Arkansas better respond or could be lights out here.
— Edgar Thompson (@osgators) November 15, 2020
Florida doesn’t need help. Arkansas making it hard on themselves.
— Richard Davenport (@ArRecruitingGuy) November 15, 2020
Boom! Trelon Smith to the house from 83 yards out! That was sexyyyyyy
— John Nabors (@JohnNaborsShow) November 15, 2020
83-yard rushing touchdown for Arkansas.
Florida seems to give up one of these per game. Just awful.
— OnlyGators.com: Florida Gators news (@onlygators) November 15, 2020
Defensive breakdown by the #Gators and Arkansas pulls back within a TD. 83-yard TD by Trelon Smith. Will have to check but that has to be one of the longest TDs Florida has allowed in several years.

bad news: Florida has to keep scoring
good news: see "bad news"

Arkansas has no answer for Florida’s offense

Athleticism shining for Florida, Hogs a couple steps too slow
— Michael Felder (@InTheBleachers) November 15, 2020
Florida has so many offensive weapons. And Mullen coaches a good offense
— Alex F ? (@SECblog) November 15, 2020
Good grief. Just way too many weapons for Florida. Gracious.
— John Nabors (@JohnNaborsShow) November 15, 2020
Kyle Trask throws his fourth touchdown pass of the game, brining his season total to 26 in just 5.5 games.
No Florida TEAM under Jim McElwain or Will Muschamp had more than 26 passing touchdowns… in full seasons. #Gators
— Thomas Goldkamp (@ThomasGoldkamp) November 15, 2020
Kyle Trask continues his streak of 4+ passing TDs and needed just the first half to do it.
No question in my mind the #Gators QB should be the Heisman frontrunner.
— Graham Hall (@GrahamHall) November 15, 2020
Kyle Trask has more passing yards in the first half (247) than Arkansas was giving up per game (222.2) coming into tonight.
— Nick de la Torre (@delatorre) November 15, 2020
Trask extended his SEC record to 6 straight games
Only needed 1.5 quarters tonight to get to 4 TD’s https://t.co/SOmNYqgcyG
— Pick Six Previews (@PickSixPreviews) November 15, 2020
“Yeah but what is Kyle Trask without Pitts?”
Good. The answer is he’s good.
— Trevor Sikkema (@TampaBayTre) November 15, 2020
The zip on Trask’s passes tonight is incredible. Passes look effortless.
— Zach Goodall (@zach_goodall) November 15, 2020
That was a beautiful throw by Trask
— Andrew Spivey (@AndrewSpiveyGC) November 15, 2020
As Pittman said this week as well, he doesn’t have to hold on to the ball long either. His guys are getting free
— Nikki Chavanelle-Edwards (@NikkiChavanelle) November 15, 2020
Easy to look at the secondary tonight, but you've got to get pressure. Don't have to have sacks, but gotta get pressure.
— Danny West (@DannyWest247) November 15, 2020
Never forget: Dan Mullen was Florida's very public third choice behind Chip Kelly and Scott Frost. Safe to say, I think things are working out pretty well for the Gators
— Aaron Torres (@Aaron_Torres) November 15, 2020
Florida's on that hold my trophy while I kiss your girlfriend mentality tonight.

Kyle Trask with a ridiculous throw there. What touch.
— Edgar Thompson (@osgators) November 15, 2020
Kyle Trask is ridiculous. Five first half touchdown passes. I don’t know how he isn’t the Heisman favorite right now.
