The NCAA Board of Directors met Wednesday and approved two transfer windows for the 2022-23 season.

The two windows are listed below:

  • Dec. 5 – Jan. 18
  • May. 1 – May. 15

There is also a 45-day window after bowl games and College Football Playoff teams are announced. Athletes competing in the CFP Championship game receive an extension of 14 days to this window.

The board also decided that students athletes who transfer will will receive their full scholarship for the rest of their five-year eligibility and that the school is required to fund it so long as the athlete does not transfer a second time. Athletes will continue to be immediately eligible as the guidelines are now, as long as the athlete announces their intent to transfer within the above windows.

The board released the following statement:

“Like their peers in the general student population, college athletes choose to transfer for any number of reasons,” President Jere Morehead said. “We believe the changes enacted today enable member schools to adapt to students’ needs, while also positioning students for long-term academic success. These changes to NCAA rules recognize further study is needed on graduation rates before we consider authorizing multiple transfer opportunities with immediate eligibility. We will continue to review potential modifications to transfer rules as the landscape evolves over time.”
