NCAA loses executive vice president Oliver Luck to Vince McMahon’s XFL
Vince McMahon has struck a blow to the NCAA.
McMahon’s revamped football league now has a commissioner, at the NCAA’s expense no less, as the XFL has hired former executive vice president Oliver Luck to fill the vacant role. This news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN and has since been confirmed by multiple outlets.
Luck previously served as athletic director at West Virginia before taking over the executive vice president of regulatory affairs and strategic partnerships roles at the NCAA in 2014. He is also the father of Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck.
The new XFL is scheduled to begin play in 2020. The first season is scheduled to be a 10-week season.
“Oliver and I share the same vision and passion for reimagining the game of football. His experience as both an athlete and executive will ensure the long-term success of the #XFL.”
