Boise State had a tremendous meltdown when the Broncos attempted a punt against Utah State.

The punt attempt bounced off the backside of a punt protector, and bounced all the way back for a 38-yard loss. Utah State recovered the wayward punt, and that setup a touchdown for the Aggies, one of the few positive plays in the game.

Boise led 35-13 midway through the fourth quarter in a game that the Broncos led 28-0 at halftime.

QB Hank Bachmeier had three touchdowns, and connected with at least six different receivers as the Broncos built a big lead.

This game was the first game this year — outside of BYU — to be played by a program west of the Rockies, as Utah State took on the Mountain West favorite and defending champion Boise State. Outside of this crazy punt, it appeared as if Boise will get off to a solid start en route to that possibly championship.
