Bob Davie was taken to the hospital after New Mexico’s game Saturday in such a hurry that the team canceled his post-game press conference with reporters.

At the time, it was called an apparent “serious medical incident,” and it came shortly after the 39-31 win over Sam Houston State.

In a statement on Sunday, Davie thanked the UNM training room staff, first responders and hospital workers.

“To the coaching staff and their families,” he said in the statement, “thank you for taking care of my family and our team during this time.”

“I anticipate a full recovery thanks to the care I received,” he continued. “My wife Joanne is with me and we hugely appreciate everyone who has reached out with well wishes.”

Davie is in his eighth season at New Mexico and was 3-9 last season. Fortunately for Davie and the team, they have a bye week on Sept. 7 and return to action Sept. 14 at Notre Dame.
