There’s no denying that NFL players are tough, but some take that toughness to extreme levels.
Such was the case with Minnesota Vikings long snapper Kevin McDermott on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, McDermott lost the tip of his pinky finger when it got caught in an opponent’s facemask. However, he barely missed any time, getting it stitched up and returning to the game:
I’m told Kevin McDermott lost the tip of his pinky tonight when it got caught in a player’s face mask. He got it stitched up in the game and was able to go back out. The belief is he’ll be able to play through it going forward.

As you can see in the video below, the pinky damage seemed to come on a 37-yard field goal by Dan Bailey. As the kick goes up, you can see McDermott looking down at his hand:

The biggest surprise, we imagine, was for the Rams player who got back to the sideline only to discover part of a finger in his facemask.
