BYU will take the place of Liberty as Coastal Carolina’s road opponent on Saturday, according to the Chanticleers.

Liberty had to back out of the game due to COVID concerns.

BYU (9-0) and Coastal Carolina (9-0) will be a matchup of undefeated Group of 5 teams. In the latest College Football Playoff rankings, BYU is No.13 and Coastal Carolina is No. 18.

This is the rare trip for ESPN’s College GameDay to a Group of 5 school, as the program will be televised from Coastal Carolina.

BYU hasn’t played since Nov. 21 and didn’t have another game scheduled until Dec. 12 vs. San Diego State. BYU is thankful for the opportunity to play this weekend.

“We’re grateful that this game between our two teams could be put together in such a timely fashion,” BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said in a statement obtained by ESPN. “It’s good to have a partner like ESPN that can help put together such a meaningful game at this point of the season.”
