Only four short weeks into the season, the race for the SEC’s top running back is dangerously close to becoming a two-horse race.

While Georgia’s Nick Chubb and Tennessee’s John Kelly continue to produce on a week-by-week basis, the conference’s other runners have struggled with consistency.

Interestingly, Kelly and Chubb will square off Saturday in Knoxville, likely for the No. 1 spot in these rankings.

Of course, someone else could insert themselves into the top spot — that’s the beauty of college football.

But for now here is how the SEC’s top 10 running backs shake out following an exciting Week 4:

10. Bo Scarbrough, Alabama (Last week: Not ranked)

After breaking out in a big way late last season, Scarbrough took a while to get going this year.

However, in Alabama’s 59-0 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the Crimson Tide rushing attack had a huge day — Scarbrough included. If he can continue to build off that momentum, he may find himself quickly moving up these rankings.

This week: 11 carries, 79 yards, 2 touchdowns; 1 catch, 2 yards
Season: 44 carries, 221 yards, 3 touchdowns; 7 catches, 57 yards

9. Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky (LW: 4)

It was tough going for Snell and the Wildcats’ offense on Saturday against Florida, as the Gators’ defense held Kentucky’s star back in check.

Snell had a nice run at the end of the game, but a holding penalty nullified it and cost the Wildcats a chance to win the game on what would have been a manageable last-second field goal.

This week: 14 carries, 59 yards; 2 catches, 22 yards
Season: 85 carries, 331 yards, 3 touchdowns; 5 catches, 40 yards

8. Damarea Crockett, Mizzou (LW: 6)

It was another tough week for Crockett and the Tigers, but he still finds himself second in the conference in rushing yards, behind only Tennessee’s John Kelly (more on him later).

Crockett did most of his damage on his one reception this week, though, finding the end zone from 19 yards. However, if the Tigers’ offense doesn’t show more signs of life in the coming weeks, Crockett could find himself left off this list altogether.

This week: 13 carries, 57 yards; 1 catch, 19 yards, 1 touchdown
Season: 59 carries, 375 yards, 2 touchdowns; 2 catches, 25 yards, 1 touchdown

7. Keith Ford, Texas A&M (LW: NR)

It took the Aggies a while to get going on Saturday in Dallas, but when they did, they ran all over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Ford played a big part in Texas A&M’s come-from-behind overtime victory, scoring two huge touchdowns and bulldozing several unfortunate defenders.

This week: 14 carries, 102 yards, 2 touchdowns
Season: 45 carries, 232 yards, 5 touchdowns; 4 catches, 28 yards

6. Kerryon Johnson, Auburn (LW: NR)

Kerryon Johnson is tied for the SEC lead with six rushing TDs -- with the top three on this list.

Any time you score five touchdowns in a week, you’re probably going to skyrocket up the rankings.

That was exactly what Johnson did Saturday against a hapless Mizzou defense, turning in a very efficient performance in Auburn’s lopsided 51-14 victory.

This week: 18 carries, 48 yards, 5 touchdowns; 2 catches, 15 yards
Season: 34 carries, 184 yards, 6 touchdowns; 2 catches, 15 yards

5. Trayveon Williams, Texas A&M (LW: 7)

Williams was overshadowed by Ford this weekend, but still played a big role in the Aggies’ wild win.

If Williams gets back to full health in the coming weeks, he’s still a threat to find the end zone any time he touches the ball.

This week: 17 carries, 72 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 catch, minus-2 yards
Season: 50 carries, 328 yards, 4 touchdowns; 3 catches, 12 yards

4. Derrius Guice, LSU (LW: 3)

An injury severely limited Guice against Syracuse on Saturday, but he still found the end zone for his fifth touchdown of the season.

As the Tigers take on Troy in their last non-conference game of the year this weekend, coach Ed Orgeron will need to get Guice back on track if he’s going to repeat as the SEC’s leader in rushing yards.

This week: 8 carries, 14 yards, 1 touchdown
Season: 65 carries, 314 yards, 5 touchdowns; 2 catches, 7 yards

3. Damien Harris, Alabama (LW: 9)

Harris set a career high in rushing yards on Saturday -- it had been 144 last year against Ole Miss.

Just last week, we said Harris was the type of back to get you 50 yards and a touchdown on any given Saturday.

Against Vanderbilt on Saturday, he made us look foolish by tripling that yardage total and scoring three times in a 59-0 rout of the Commodores to shoot up from No. 9 to No. 3 on our list.

This week: 12 carries, 151 yards, 3 touchdowns; 1 catch, 9 yards
Season: 38 carries, 309 yards, 6 touchdowns; 5 catches, 38 yards

2. Nick Chubb, Georgia (LW: 2)

Though freshman QB Jake Fromm has been making most of the headlines (and deservedly so) during the Bulldogs’ 4-0 start, it’s important to note that Chubb is back to his dominant self.

He hasn’t had a huge game yet, but he’s making the most of his touches, and his two scores on Saturday night helped to bury Mississippi State.

This week: 15 carries, 81 yards, 2 touchdowns
Season: 59 carries, 371 yards, 6 touchdowns; 1 catch, 11 yards

1. John Kelly, Tennessee (LW: 1)

Yes, the Vols struggled to beat hapless UMass, but Kelly still looked dominant and managed to put more distance between himself and the rest of the SEC running backs.

If Tennessee is going to have any chance of upsetting Chubb and the Georgia Bulldogs at Neyland Stadium this weekend, Kelly is going to need to get at least 30 touches, maybe as many as 40.

This week: 25 carries, 101 yards, 1 touchdown; 2 catches, minus-9 yards
Season: 81 carries, 450 yards, 6 touchdowns; 18 catches, 182 yards
