SEC baseball owns the top 5 spots in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll
The latest USA Today Coaches Poll is out and the SEC dominates these baseball rankings, as expected.
There are only two undefeated teams ranked in the new poll and both hail from the SEC as Arkansas holds firm at No. 1 and South Carolina reaching the top 10 as the Gamecocks are No. 8 following a 10-0 start to the season.
The entire top 5 of the poll belongs to the nation’s best conference this week as Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida are all found at the top of the poll.
By next week, there could be 10 SEC teams ranked as Georgia is the first team listed among the “others receiving votes” category.

Others receiving votes
Georgia 59; Oregon 40; Stanford 33; Arizona State 31; Virginia 28; North Carolina 27; Coastal Carolina 24; Southern Illinois 22; West Virginia 21; Pittsburgh 14; USC Upstate 13; Dallas Baptist 11; Michigan 8; Auburn 8; Clemson 6; UNC-Greensboro 5; Southern Miss 5; North Carolina State 4; Louisiana-Lafayette 4; Florida Gulf Coast 3; UNC Wilmington 2; St. John’s 2; Ball State 2; Washington State 1; Ohio State 1; Lamar 1.
Auburn will probably get into the top 25 too at some point right?
The top 5 in the SEC may be able to hold their own against the 5 in the NL Central. Any of the 5 SEC powers might be as good as an expansion franchise at the moment. Vanderbilt’s pitching staff is probably better than Pittsburgh’s.
I never thought that there could be a tougher, more dominant conference than SEC football, but apparently SEC baseball is!
