Well, that didn’t take long.

Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is close to becoming the centerpiece of FOX Sports’ college football coverage, per Sporting News. He’s been given the option of either  a color commentator role in the game booth or as a studio analyst.

Meyer retired from coaching after the Buckeyes Rose Bowl victory citing serious health concerns. Meyer has stated multiple times since he announced his retirement that he believes he’s done coaching altogether. That certainly remains to be seen, as several think he could land a big-time coaching job in 2020.

It is interesting that ESPN’s star college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit is an Ohio State alum, and now, it appears as if Meyer will join the rival network as a national championship coach of the Buckeyes.

Of course, TV work isn’t new to Meyer. Once Meyer left Florida (citing health concerns), he joined ESPN for one season in 2011 before taking the Ohio State job.
