It was a busy day of roster moves for the Atlanta Falcons involving former SEC players.

Former Georgia Bulldog John Atkins is returning to the Peach State. Atkins originally signed with the Patriots after the NFL Draft but spent the 2018 and ’19 seasons with the Detroit Lions. Over two seasons, Atkins appeared in 14 games (six starts), recording 22 total tackles, including 14 solo and for loss.

Former Auburn linebacker Jeff Holland’s time in Atlanta appears to be coming to an end. Holland has been released by the Falcons just one week after they signed him. Holland, 25, hasn’t appeared in a regular-season NFL game since 2018 when he appeared in three contests for the Denver Broncos. Holland has also spent time with Arizona, Buffalo, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams.

Atlanta’s roster moves also included the signing of Jeff Badet who played at Kentucky before transferring to Oklahoma. Badet first signed with Washington in 2018 and played in three games for the team in the 2020 season.
