We’re beginning to meet that portion of the schedule where teams must bring it each week and anything can happen.
There are some huge conference games for the SEC in Week 7, and SDS is going to break down who’s savoring the spotlight.
SEC East
Georgia at Missouri: This game got much more interesting last night after news broke that Todd Gurley was suspended indefinitely and would not make the trip to Columbia. This game likely will have huge repercussions on the race in the Eastern Division. The Bulldogs will now have to rely on freshman tailback Nick Chubb and quarterback Hutson Mason, who has been inconsistent all year. Chubb has impressed, but has not carried the load yet this season. If Georgia loses, it’ll essentially fall three games behind Missouri in the East.
LSU at Florida: Who would’ve ever thought that this cross-divisional rivalry would’ve been the fourth or fifth best game of the day? These two teams are struggling mightily and have had major issues at the quarterback position. LSU has had trouble stopping the run, and the Gators’ secondary has been vulnerable at times. Who knows what type of game we’ll see in Gainesville. 10-9? 3-2? It likely won’t be pretty.
SEC West
Auburn at Mississippi State: The marquee game in the SEC this week is in Starkville with the No. 2 Auburn Tigers facing off with the No. 3 Mississippi State Bulldogs. Dak Prescott vs. Nick Marshall. This contest could go either way. Mississippi State looks to establish the run early, and Auburn boasts one of the best run defenses in the conference. This game likely could come down to turnover margin or who has the ball last. GameDay will be in town, as will Uncle Verne and Gary, so it should be another day to remember in the Magnolia State.
Ole Miss at Texas A&M: The high-flying Ole Miss Rebels travel to College Station to duel with Kenny Hill’s Texas A&M squad, coming off a loss to Mississippi State last weekend. The Rebels have the league’s top defense, but face the SEC’s most explosive offense now with Hill, who’s averaging nearly 400 yards passing per game. It should be an incredible scene with the 12th Man. Aggies officials are expecting over 106,000 people.
