After the first full weekend of exciting football, the SEC has announced its Week 1 Players of the Week

Tennessee’s Joe Milton and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe were Co-Offensive Players of the Week.

In his first start of the season, Milton threw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns on an efficient 21-of-30. He also took in 2 touchdowns on the ground in Tennessee’s 49-13 routing of Virginia.

Milroe had 3 touchdowns in the air and 2 on the ground to go along with his 194 yards on 13-of-18 passing.

Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week after recording 12 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. 7 of his tackles were either for a loss or for no gain.

Kentucky’s Barion Brown and Ole Miss’ Jordan Watkins were Co-Special Teams Players of the Week.

Brown had a 99-yard kick return that put the Wildcats up by 2 touchdowns against Ball State. He had 156 all-purpose yards on the game.

Wallace had a 70-yard punt return for the Rebels, which was their first punt return for a touchdown since 2013. He had 180 all-purpose yards.

Auburn’s Gunner Britton was the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week as he helped the Tigers achieve 289 rushing yards in their win over UMass.

Tennessee’s Tyler Baron earned Defensive Lineman of the Week after picking up a game-high 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks for a loss of 9 yards. He helped Tennessee’s defense hold Virginia to just 95 yards on the ground.

Alabama’s Caleb Downs and Mississippi State’s Kylie Ferrie were Co-Freshman of the Week.

Downs, a defensive back, had a game-high 8 tackles, including a tackle for loss.

Ferrie, a place kicker, was 2-for-2 on field goals, including a 47-yarder, and 6-for-6 on extra points.
