How SEC teams have fared against the AP Top 25 after Week 10

Alabama’s work isn’t done. The third-ranked (AP Poll) Crimson Tide, which knocked off LSU last Saturday to take control of the SEC West race, must win Saturday at No. 20 Mississippi State to stay in control of its destiny.
Next week, No. 9 LSU faces a tough task, playing at Ole Miss, which dealt Alabama its only defeat in September. The Rebels dropped out of the top 25 after losing a 53-52 thriller to Arkansas, which survived in overtime with the help of a blind ‘Hail Mary’ lateral on fourth-and-25.
The nightmare for SEC national title hopes would be a sweep by the Magnolia State teams, resulting in a logjam with four teams atop the West standings with two losses.
No. 11 Florida, the SEC’s other AP Top 25 team, plays at South Carolina, which gave inspired performances in close losses the past two weeks to Texas A&M and Tennessee.
This season, the SEC is 2-3 against AP Top 25 non-conference games at the time the game was played.
